We’re looking for a reliable and hardworking General Labourer in Parkhill, ON. Help keep our operations running smoothly, support your colleagues, and be part of a friendly, fast-paced work environment.

Job Summary:
The General Labourer supports production and slaughter operations at our meat processing facility. Working under the direction of a supervisor and alongside skilled butchers, the role assists with animal handling, meat preparation, packaging, sanitation, and product movement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Slaughtering Assistance: Handle and prepare animals for processing. Assist with head preparation, deboning, trimming, and weighing carcasses. Remove bins and hides, transport rollers, and prepare animals for lifting. Follow animal welfare and safety standards, and clean/prepare the barn for the next day.
• Meat Preparation: Assist with the cutting, trimming, and portioning of meat products according to established procedures and customer requests. Use knives, saws, and other cutting tools under the guidance of the butcher to prepare a variety of meat cuts.
• Cleaning and Sanitation: Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils in accordance with food safety procedures to prevent cross-contamination.
• Packaging and Labeling: Assist with packaging and labeling meat products for storage or shipment according to company specifications and traceability procedures.
• Inventory Management: Help with receiving, storing, and rotating meat inventory to ensure freshness and minimize waste. Assist in monitoring stock levels and replenishing supplies as needed to support daily operations.
• Order Support: Assist with preparing products for customer orders according to production instructions and specifications.
• Equipment Operation: Learn to operate and maintain meat processing equipment and machinery, such as meat slicers, grinders, and scales, following safety guidelines and manufacturer instructions.
• Assisting Butchers: Support butchers with assigned preparation and product-handling tasks, organize storage areas, and follow instructions while learning safe work practices.
• Compliance and Safety: Follow health and safety, food safety, animal welfare, and workplace procedures. Report hazards and concerns to the supervisor promptly.
• Other Duties as assigned

Experience Required

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in meat processing, food production, or animal handling is an asset, but not required.
• Basic knowledge of meat cuts, food safety, and sanitation practices.
• Strong attention to detail and safe knife-handling skills.
• Ability to follow instructions, work in a fast-paced environment, and prioritize tasks.
• Physical stamina to lift and move heavy meat carcasses and containers.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Positive, reliable, adaptable, and willing to learn.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Commitment to ethical practices, safety, and quality standards.

Compensation and Benefits

Wage: $17.95 to $21.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
