JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for intake, assessment, employment counselling, and case management services for clients.

Primary Duties:

  • Conduct comprehensive client assessments to evaluate employment-related strengths, needs, abilities, and skills
  • Collaborate with clients to develop a personalized Employment Action Plan that supports long-term employment stability
  • Provide ongoing, face-to-face and/or virtual, pre-employment support, including career counselling, job search, work preparation and related services as outlined in the Employment Action Plan
  • Facilitate referrals to community resources to enhance job readiness
  • Offer appropriate resources to support client schooling and/or training and employment needs
  • Work closely with CEC’s Job Developer, to support the implementation and monitoring of individualized Employment Action Plans; and follow-ups throughout retention in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate case notes, documentation, and client files in compliance with organizational and program guidelines
  • Identify and arrange necessary accommodations and resources to help clients sustain employment
  • Provide guidance, information and support to clients applying to training programs such as Better Jobs Ontario.
  • Support clients in securing employment while meeting monthly goals, in a fast-paced work environment
  • Work as part of the CEC team to ensure smooth delivery and coordination of services to clients
  • Maintain positive professional relationships with colleagues and community partners
  • Stay informed on local labour market trends and community resources
  • Represent CEC at networking events and community initiatives
  • Assist clients using on-site resources (computers, photocopiers, etc.)
  • Contribute to the collection and analysis of client participant surveys and program evaluations
  • Participate in staff meetings and provide backup support as needed across teams and locations
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Employment Services Manager and Operations Manager

Education

Post Secondary Education

Experience Required

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education related to Human Services or Social Work
  • Experience in the employment sector; experience working with a diverse set of clients with multiple barriers including unemployment, mental health, addictions, and various disabilities
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of the job search process including how to compose resumes, cover letters, and how to support the client through various life transitions to successfully reach their goals
  • Superior administrative skills, and expert ability to utilize data management software for client data entry
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications is an asset
  • Familiarity with Employment Ontario programs; experience with Better Jobs Ontario is an asset
  • Strong problem-solving skills and resourcefulness
  • Knowledge of community resources within Middlesex County
  • Collaborative team player with a positive, adaptable mindset
  • Proven ability to develop service plans and employment goals with clients
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, organizational and customer service abilities
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required
