Job Description

Job Summary: The forklift operator supports the lumberyard with the collection and building of material loads, loading delivery trucks, loading and off-loading for shipping and receiving as well as picking up and delivering products to and from the retail store, among additional tasks and duties as assigned by management. The forklift operator operates technical equipment, optimizing loading for efficient logistics and support other warehouse and lumberyard functions to ensure optimal operation of the business. 

Responsibilities:

  • Operate forklift safely and efficiently.
  • Support the lumberyard in moving product, building material loads, loading and off-loading delivery trucks and shipping/receiving products.
  • Pick, wrap, and stage orders to be shipped.
  • Consolidate partial pallets for incoming goods.
  • Perform cycle counts as required.
  • Maintain good communication with lumberyard management.
  • Be accessible to colleagues for questions and guidance where necessary.
  • Maintain good customer relations through your presence in the lumberyard, knowledge of products and services and ability to assist customers.
  • Inspect and perform maintenance on forklifts and other material handing equipment.
  • Work on additional duties and assignments as assigned by lumberyard management and/or general manager.

  • Attend store meetings and training sessions, etc. as required.
  • Maintain safety training certifications annually or as advised.
