Job Description
Family-run hog and cash crop farm located outside of Kerwood seeking a Herdsperson to support our hog finishing barns. There may also be an opportunity for some cash crop and equipment operation work for the right candidate, depending on experience and interest.
Position Summary:
This position supports day-to-day farm operations, primarily within a hog barn environment. The role is hands-on and physically demanding and requires comfort working with livestock. While barn work is the main focus, there may be opportunities to assist with cash crop operations and equipment operation for candidates with the appropriate skills.
Education
Experience Required
1. Farm experience is an asset; hog farm experience is preferred but not required
2. Must be comfortable working in a hog barn environment (odours, noise, physical labour)
3. Mechanically inclined candidates are considered an asset
4. Ability to perform physically demanding work
5. Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn
6. Valid driver’s licence and own transportation preferred due to rural location
Overall Employee Qualities:
1. Ability to work independently and demonstrate problem-solving skills
2. Ability to work respectfully and positively as part of a team
3. Willingness to work flexible hours, including longer days during harvest
4. Ability to start the workday between 6:00–7:00 a.m.
5. Willingness to work weekends as required
