Job Description
Welcome to Community Employment Choices (CEC), a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals on their employment journey. Our organization is committed to providing comprehensive employment services to the residents and businesses of the Middlesex County community by fostering growth and making a positive impact on the lives of those we serve. JOB DESCRIPTION
Primary Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive client assessments to evaluate employment-related strengths, needs, abilities, and skills
- Collaborate with clients to develop a personalized Employment Action Plan that support long term job stability
- Provide ongoing, face to face as well as virtual, pre-employment support, including career counselling, job search training, work preparation and related services as outlined in the Employment Action Plan
- Facilitate referrals to community resources to enhance job readiness
- Offer appropriate referrals and resources to support client training and employment needs
- Work closely with CEC’s Job Developers and Outreach/Retention Specialist, to support the implementation and monitoring of individualized Employment Action Plans and ensure coordinated follow ups after employment has been secured
- Maintain accurate case notes, documentation and client files in compliance with organizational and program guidelines.
- Identify and arrange necessary accommodations and resources to help clients sustain employment
- Provide guidance, information and support to clients applying to training programs such as Better Jobs Ontario
- Support clients in securing employment while meeting monthly service goals, while working in a fast-paced, client focused environment
Secondary Duties:
- Work as part of the CEC team to ensure smooth delivery and coordination of services to clients
- Maintain positive professional relationships with colleagues and community partners
- Stay informed on local labour market trends and community resources
- Represent CEC at networking events and community initiatives
- Assist clients using on-site resources (computers, photocopiers, etc.)
- Contribute to the collection and analysis of client participant surveys and program evaluations
- Participate in staff meetings and provide backup support as needed across teams and locations
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Employment Services Manager and Operations Manager
Education
Experience Required
Skills and Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Human Services discipline or equivalent work experience
- Understanding of employment transitions and challenges faced by adults, including those from diverse socio-economic backgrounds
- Familiarity with Employment Ontario programs; experience with Better Jobs Ontario is an asset
- Strong problem solving skills and resourcefulness
- Knowledge of community resources within Middlesex County
- Collaborative team player with a positive, adaptable mindset
- Proven ability to develop service plans and employment goals with clients
- Excellent verbal, written communication, organizational and customer service abilities
- Proficiency in MS Office applications
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required
