Licensed Security Guard

The Licensed Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for customers, employees and property at Bear Creek Gas Bar and Bear Creek Express Gas Bar. 

Essential Duties

• Maintain a visible security presence inside the convenience store and around the gas bar premises.
• Monitor customer activity and observe for theft, suspicious behaviour, vandalism and other security concerns.
• Conduct regular patrols of designated indoor and outdoor areas.
• Monitor entrances, parking areas, fuel pump areas and other assigned locations.
• Respond to disturbances, customer disputes and incidents calm and professionally.
• Follow established procedures when dealing with suspected shoplifting, trespassing or disruptive individuals.
• Contact police, fire or emergency medical services when necessary.
• Complete incident reports, daily activity logs and shift handover documentation.
• Communicate security concerns and incidents to store management and appropriate authorities.
• Assist employees and customers during emergencies while following workplace safety procedures.
• Follow applicable laws, company policies and use-of-force requirements.

Physical Demands

• Prolonged standing and walking while monitoring the premises.
• Regular indoor and outdoor patrols in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to respond promptly to incidents and emergency situations
• Ability to remain alert and attentive throughout the shift.

Skills and Qualifications

• Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence required.

• Knowledge of applicable security procedures, trespassing laws and use-of-force regulations.

• Effective verbal communication and conflict de-escalation skills.

• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.

• Good judgment, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

• Ability to complete written reports accurately.

• Reliability, punctuality and professional conduct.

• Current First Aid/CPR certification

• Previous security experience, particularly in retail or gas station environments, is an asset.
