Job Description

Position Summary

The Accounting Assistant is a key member of the Finance team and is responsible for supporting the overall financial operations of the company. This role assists in the preparation of financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, reconciliations, and internal controls designed to support accurate financial reporting and compliance with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participate in the day-to-day operations of the Accounting and Customer Service departments
  • Monitor and assist with Accounts Receivable collections
  • Assist with daily cash sales and payment reporting for cash flow analysis
  • Process Accounts Payable postings, manual cheques, and cheque runs
  • Prepare and process government remittances
  • Prepare General Ledger entries and account analysis
  • Prepare and analyze management reports, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Calculate and analyze variances to budget and forecast
  • Monitor cash flow activity and identify/report current or potential issues to management
  • Assist with monthly financial statement preparation
  • Recommend benchmarks and reporting improvements to measure operational performance
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships
  • Consistently communicate and support the Ricco mission and values
  • Communicate with professionalism, consistency, and clarity
  • Promote a culture of accountability and personal excellence 

Education

Post Secondary Education

Experience Required

Education & Qualifications

  • Accounting Diploma or higher required
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience
  • Strong working knowledge of WinFDS is considered an asset
  • Experience with Microsoft Business Central is considered an asset
  • Strong computer literacy, including experience with distribution systems
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills preferred
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
