About the Role:

This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Grant.

The Elgin Middlesex Oxford Workforce Planning and Development Board (WPDB) is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented student to join our team as a Data Entry Verifier-Operator. The project is focused on validating, verifying and updating databases for improved accuracy. The position will also support the exploration and development of AI solutions to ensure sustainability and improved processes.

Position Type: Student, Full-Time Contract (31 hours/week)

Compensation: $19.50/hour

Work arrangement: Onsite/Hybrid

Location: London, Ontario (2544 Advanced Ave. London N6M0E1)

Term of contract: 9 weeks, June 15, 2026 - August 14, 2026

Position Summary:

The Data Entry Verifier Operator is a student position, responsible for updating the databases used in our daily activities. This position will work closely with data cleaning and data management, and transition to developing automations to improve data management and increase the accuracy of the system. The role requires proficiency with databases, attention to detail, and curiosity. 

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Data Verification & Quality Control: Review and verify the accuracy of submitted data against source documents. Identify discrepancies, missing information, or formatting errors and correct them or flag them for review. Conduct routine quality checks to ensure data integrity and consistency. Validate that entries comply with organizational standards and policies.
  • Data Entry & Processing: Accurately enter new data into the online database following established formats and guidelines. Input data into computerized databases and spreadsheets using a keyboard, mouse, or optical scanner, speech recognition software or other data entry tools. Update, edit, and maintain existing database records to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Database Management Support: Organize and categorize information to improve database searchability and structure. Assist in maintaining standardized naming conventions and metadata fields. Prepare data to support machine learning and AI integrations. Run simple database queries or reports to verify data quality.
  • AI & Automation Exploration: Identify repetitive or manual data-related tasks that could be optimized through AI tools or automations. Research and test simple AI features—such as data cleaning or categorization tools—to support workflow efficiencies. Provide recommendations to supervisors on potential AI-driven improvements. Assist in documenting AI-assisted workflows or pilot-testing new tools as needed.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Communicate with supervisors or team members to clarify unclear information or confirm required changes. Report recurring data issues or trends to identify areas that require process improvements.
  • Administrative & Technical Tasks: Use online tools, and spreadsheets to track updates and completed tasks. Follow data privacy and confidentiality protocols when handling sensitive information. Support the team with general administrative duties as needed (e.g., organizing files, maintaining logs).
  • Workflow & Time Management: Manage workload to meet assigned deadlines and accuracy benchmarks. Prioritize tasks according to project needs or supervisor instructions. Participate in training sessions to learn new tools, including AI or updated data management procedures.
  • Support operations by completing additional tasks as assigned.

  • Previous experience with data analysis is an asset.
