Job Description
Naturally Inspired Play is seeking a reliable and hardworking Seasonal Labourer to support our team during the busy spring and summer months. This is an entry-level position ideal for someone who enjoys physical, hands-on work and is interested in both outdoor landscaping and woodworking.
About the Role
This position involves assisting with the maintenance of outdoor play spaces at childcare centres, as well as supporting operations in our woodworking shop where we build custom children’s play equipment.
This role is physically demanding and repetitive in nature. A large portion of the work will take place outdoors and will involve consistent, hands-on landscaping tasks such as shoveling, moving materials, and site clean-up. While there may be opportunities to assist in the woodworking shop, the majority of hours will be spent completing outdoor labour.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with playground maintenance
- Perform basic landscaping tasks such as spreading mulch
- Rake and maintain sandbox areas
- Perform repetitive manual labour (e.g., shoveling, moving materials)
- Move materials using wheelbarrows and by hand
- Lift and carry lumber and other materials
- Operate small equipment (e.g., skid steer)
- Complete general shop clean-up (indoor and outdoor)
- Assist with basic woodworking tasks (as needed)
- Support routering of CNC items
- Work independently once tasks are reviewed
Education
Experience Required
Requirements:
- Ability to perform heavy, repetitive physical labour (lifting, bending, carrying, and working on your feet for extended periods)
- Comfortable performing repetitive tasks such as shoveling and moving materials throughout the day
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently
- Reliable and punctual
- Clean Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check (required for working in childcare environments)
- Experience with power tools is an asset, but not required
Compensation and Benefits
$19/hr.
