Job Description

Summary: A Plastics Fabricator is responsible for the safe and quality manufacture of standard and non-standard fittings. Fabricators utilize engineering drawings and equipment of varying degrees of size and difficulty to manually perform this task. A fabricator is subject to repetitive lifting and handling of raw materials and finished products. This position requires the flexibility to work 40+ hours per week and weekends, as required. Fabricators report directly to the Department Manager.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work safely and follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Practice Continuous Improvement and 6S, including housekeeping and participation in Daily  Management process
  • Utilize hot plate and handheld extrusion welder to permanently fuse and finish fabricated products
  • Accurately read and interpret engineering drawings to fabricate products to specification
  • Utilize variety of power and hand tools during fabrication process
  • Knowledge of ADS products, SKUS and terminology to correctly identify products
  • Safe and competent care of forklift, tools, and department specific equipment and tools
  • Understand and practice ADS CORE VALUES and ADS LIFE SAFETY PRINCIPLES

Education

Secondary School Diploma

Experience Required

Job Skills: This position should possess the following skills/knowledge:

  • Self-motivated and the ability to work independently, while maintaining a strong team-oriented environment
  • Dependable and reliable
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, ability to maintain efficiency and pace under pressure
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving
  • Strong communication; reading and writing in English
  • Ability to read tape measure and work with fractional numbers.
  • Basic Math skills and abilities
  • Intermediate Computer knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office software

Preferred Experience:

  • Welding experience
  • Carpentry / trade apprenticeship or similar experience
  • Previous Manufacturing environment experience
  • Forklift certification

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 20kgs and ability to lift 5kgs on frequent basis
  • Ability to perform physical labour for extended periods of time
  • Position requires full range of body motion, including twisting, bending, reaching, squatting and ability to mount/dis-mount industrial equipment and vehicles
  • Ability to stand and be mobile for up to ten continuous hours per shift
  • Ability to use hands, arms and legs to handle and transport products
  • Ability to work outside in all elements and weather conditions, as needed
