Job Description

Little Brown Farm is hiring! Are you eager to immerse yourself in the world of lavender and flower farming? Come join us this spring and summer and experience the unique opportunity to work on a local lavender and flower farm.  We are looking for an energetic, post-secondary student who is looking to work 30-40 hours per week from May through to the end of August. 

Your job will consist of the following duties:

  • Planting lavender plugs in the field
  • Planting annual in the field
  • Watering, weeding and maintain plants in the field
  • Harvesting and processing lavender
  • Harvesting and arranging flowers into bouquets
  • Maintaining grounds and garden plots
  • Conceptual development and construction of new perennial garden beds
  • Assisting in landscaping projects
  • Managing and cleaning farm tools
  • Some tasks require use of very sharp garden tools
  • Answering visitor’s and costumer’s questions
  • Helping with market set up and selling at a market
  • Operating machinery such as golf cart, trimmers, lawn mowers

Experience Required

While there will be comprehensive training provided on the farm, the ideal candidate will be:

  • Knowledgeable about basic plant health and needs
  • Experienced in working in garden, nursery or farm setting
  • Experienced with growing flowers, herbs and vegetables
  • Current student in a post-secondary horticultural or agricultural program
  • Experienced working with farm and gardening equipment
  • Have some experience in landscaping
  • Able to work for extended periods in the sun
  • Able to have reliable transportation to and from the farm
  • Able to work well both in team and individual work environment
  • Willing and able to lift and bend to meet the physical demands of the job
  • Self-motivated, passionate about flowers, outgoing and positive
  • Hardworking with good decision-making skills

Wage Details

$18 per hour
