Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm pm typically, with some additional hours required to support the business, construction industry. Hours fluctuate, later and early days based on demands.

Job Description

Position overview:

The Junior Technician is an entry-level role focused on developing the skills required for garage door installations and repairs through a combination of in-house theory training and in-field, hands-on experience. This position provides a foundation in the installation of basic garage doors, electric operators, and basic troubleshooting, with an emphasis on learning and growth within the company.

 Attend In-House Training Programs

  • Participate in comprehensive in-house training based on industry standards, focusing on the fundamentals of garage door installations, electric operators, and basic construction techniques.
  • Apply the knowledge gained in training to real-world scenarios during fieldwork senior technicians.

Perform Basic Installations of Garage Doors and Electric Operators

  • Assist with the installation of standard garage doors and electric operators, following the guidance and instructions of more experienced technicians.
  • Ensure installations are performed safely and in compliance with manufacturer requirements.

Gain Hands-On Experience in Basic Troubleshooting

  • Begin developing basic troubleshooting skills for minor issues related to garage doors and electric operators.
  • Support senior technicians in diagnosing and resolving problems, gradually taking on more responsibility in field repairs.

Adhere to Safety Standards

  • Learn and follow all workplace safety regulations and policies, ensuring proper use of tools and personal protective equipment during all tasks.
  • Report any potential safety issues or hazards to senior technicians or supervisors. 

Support Technicians in the Field

  • Assist Level 1 and Lead Technicians with day-to-day installations, repairs, and tasks, ensuring the job site is clean, organized, and safe.
  • Proactively contribute to team efficiency by preparing materials and supporting the workflow.

Develop Customer Service Skills

  • Begin learning customer interaction techniques, focusing on positive and professional communication.
  • Support senior technicians in engaging with customers to explain the work being performed and answer basic questions.

Experience Required

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Basic understanding of construction techniques is an asset.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for garage doors and electric operators, or willingness to learn.
  • Valid driver’s license and in good standing.
  • Commitment to following safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communications skills to build and maintain positive relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.

Physical requirements / Working Conditions:

  • Lifting Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy garage doors, tools, and equipment, typically weighing up to 50lbs and above, TEAM lifting on heavier items.
  • Standing and Walking: Extended periods of standing, walking, and performing tasks while on your feet for long durations.
  • Manual Dexterity: Proficiency in using hand and power tools for installation, repair, and maintenance tasks.
  • Outdoor and Weather Exposure: Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain, as garage door installations and services.
  • Driving Requirements: Require traveling to customer sites, which includes operating company vehicles safely.
  • Communication: Regular interaction with co-workers, management, and customers, requiring clear verbal and written communication.

Compensation and Benefits

$20-$35/hr.
