Job Description

Position Overview:
The Facility Technician is responsible for the overall maintenance, repair, and operational efficiency of the company facilities. This role involves overseeing the company’s infrastructure, performing hands-on handyman tasks, ensuring equipment functionality, and maintaining a safe working environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in facility management, general maintenance, and troubleshooting systems such as HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.


Key Responsibilities:
Facility Maintenance & Operations:
• Oversee the daily operation and upkeep of the company’s facility, ensuring all systems function optimally.
• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs on HVAC, ventilation and heating systems.
• Inspects and verifies fire suppression and sprinkler systems.
• Inspects, tests and verifies emergency power and lighting systems.
• Monitor and maintain plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems to prevent downtime.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repair work.
Handyman & Repair Tasks:
•Perform hands-on repairs, including minor plumbing fixes, electrical troubleshooting, and basic carpentry work.
• Patch and repair greenhouse structures, including glass panels, plastic coverings, and framework.
• Install and repair shelving, workbenches, and other necessary infrastructure.
• Maintain and repair doors, locks, and general hardware.
• Perform minor welding, painting, and sealing as needed to maintain facility integrity.
• Safely operate tools, machinery, and basic construction equipment.
Safety & Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations, including OSHA and environmental standards.
• Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment.
• Implement safety protocols for facility maintenance and emergency situations.
Inventory & Budget Management:
• Maintain an inventory of tools, supplies, and spare parts for timely repairs.
• Assist in budget planning for facility repairs, upgrades, and equipment purchases.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and maintenance projects.
Team Coordination & Support:
• Provide general facility support, including moving heavy equipment, assembling structures, and assisting with special projects.

Education

Secondary School Diploma

Experience Required

Qualifications & Skills:
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in maintenance, HVAC, electrical, or plumbing is a plus.
• 3+ years of experience in facility management, general maintenance, or handyman work, preferably in a greenhouse or agricultural setting.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, irrigation, electrical, plumbing, and basic carpentry.

• Ability to troubleshoot and repair greenhouse systems and equipment.
• Proficiency with power tools, hand tools, and basic construction techniques.
• Understanding of workplace safety standards and compliance regulations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in varying environmental conditions.

Work Environment & Schedule:
• Work primarily in greenhouse and outdoor environments, exposed to heat, humidity, and seasonal temperature variations.
•Some weekend or after-hours availability may be required for emergency repairs. 

•Hands-on, physically active role requiring manual labor and equipment operation.
