Job Description
If you are passionate about working with animals and is eager to help provide care for canines, this is the job for you. If you have the enthusiasm, take pride in remembering the dogs names and eager to work hard, we are happy to provide the training!
Duties
- Assist in caring for dogs including supervision, walking, feeding, spending time with them, some behaviour modification
- Clean dog care areas, including removing waste appropriately
- Must be physically fit and able to be outside in inclement weather
- React to any escalating situations between dogs with appropriate separation and disciplinary actions (training will be provided)
- Interact with customers dropping off and picking up dogs
- Rinsing and cleaning dogs
Education
Experience Required
- Must have Valid Drivers License and own transportation to worksite
- Must have good communication skills as communicating with other staff members regarding dog behavior is pivotal in maintaining a safe environment
- Must work well within a team environment, handle challenging situations
- Must be willing to take pride in your work, do what it takes to remember the names of each dog, their personalities and their behaviours
- Must be interested in and willing to learn dog discipline and behavior modification
- Must be able to react quickly to escalating scenarios to maintain safety of staff and dogs
- Must be able to walk for long periods of time and fairly frequently as some dogs have greater exercise needs (can walk up to 30 minutes 10 times a day for high-energy dogs) You may be on your feet up to 10 1/2 hours some days
- Must have good customer service skills
- Ability to take initiative and make quick decisions is important.
- Must be open to receiving ongoing feedback and coaching
- Must be willing to implement the feedback and coaching that is provided.
Compensation and Benefits
$16.20/hour
