Position Summary:

Reporting to the Sergeant – CID and Court Services, the Court Services/Digital Evidence and Property Control Clerk provides information, assistance and customer service to the general public, courthouse personnel, legal professionals, social agencies, members of the SCPS and other police agencies. This position is responsible for clerical support to all members of the SCPS, as well as maintaining accurate and current court records, and the records management systems at SCPS including CPIC.

This position will be responsible for the preservation, handling, redaction, transcription and disclosure of records and digital evidence, including multimedia files, such as audio communications, videos and images, for the purposes of criminal investigations and court disclosure; administers the retention and destruction of records and evidence within the AXON evidence.com system and our DEMS (Digital Evidence Management System). This position will also be responsible for assisting other members of the SCPS in the recording, securing, storage, cataloguing, and disposal of items that are housed in the SCPS Property Control Unit.

Education

Secondary School Diploma

Experience Required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
  • 3-6 months related work experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and Adobe Systems applications.
  • Sound technical knowledge and proven ability to utilize technologies to innovate and contribute to process efficiencies.
  • Critical thinking skills with solution-focused approach to work.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent work and attendance record including a positive attitude in the workplace.
