Hours are based on business needs and vary from week to week. Core hours are 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday to Friday. During summer camp season: Sunday afternoon to Friday evening, as needed. Requires some weekends and evenings with alternate times off.
Job Description
Job Duties:
- Ensure the vision, mission and values of Camp Kee Mo Kee are promoted throughout every aspect of the camp and its business.
- Support the Board initiatives, provide recommendations, and regular and timely operational reports
- Strategic planning, development and delivery.
- Make recommendations for organizational development and sustainability which are informed by frequent environmental scans.
- Oversee all operations of the business and manage the camp assets.
- Ensure the camp meets or exceeds all regulations regarding health, safety, food services and waste management.
- Ensure program research, development, innovation, delivery and evaluation and ensuring OCA, and UCC standards are met.
- Oversight of all employees and volunteers including recruitment, training, mentorship, evaluation and termination.
- Develop and maintain relationships with all stakeholders (including participants, their families, employees, funders and the community).
- Develop and execute a marketing plan.
- Manage the operational aspects of the camp property maintenance.
- Execute policies and procedures regarding capital asset projects.
- Financial Management:
- Working with the Treasurer and Finance Committee: develop an annual budget.
- Working with bookkeeping services: monitor revenue, expenditures, and financial assets; manage payroll.
- Risk Management:
- Manage insurance policies.
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures regarding privacy, confidentiality, and records management.
- Fulfill the role of the corporation’s Privacy Officer.
- Manage contractual arrangements with neighbouring land owners and contracted resources.
- Manage serious incidents consistent with policies and procedures, legal requirements, and expert judgment.
- Explore grant opportunities and ensure successful grant application and implementation.
- Manage donor, volunteer and fundraising activity.
Education
Experience Required
Skill Set Requirements and Qualifications:
Required Criteria
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a leadership role within the non-profit sector.
- Post-Secondary education in a relevant field of study.
- An understanding of the positive impact of camp on youth.
- Significant administrative/managerial experience, business acumen.
- Highly self-motivated, self-managed, and able to work independently
- Strong working knowledge of fiscal management, including creation and ongoing review and management of annual budgets, business finance, capital funding, contracts and partnerships.
- Proven ability to lead effectively and co-ordinate priorities within and across departments.
- Sound working knowledge of human resource policies and procedures with experience managing a staff of approximately 40 members.
- Dedication to the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Excellent computer proficiency.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language.
- Current vulnerable sector police background check.
- First Aid and CPR-C certification.
- Current driver’s license and regular access to own vehicle.
Ideal Criteria
- Experience with grant cycles, community fundraising or fund development.
- Experience working for a camp or outdoor recreation-focussed organization.
- Experience working with volunteers.
- Familiarity with the United Church of Canada.
- NLS certification.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to move independently over a variety of natural terrains.
- Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid and assist others in emergencies.
- Able to lift and carry up to 22kg/50lbs.
- Comfortable lifting, bending, stooping, stretching, sitting, kneeling, crouching, running.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather; including daily exposure to insects, sun, heat, cold and varying environmental conditions.
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environment and other hazards.
