Job Description

The RAW MATERIAL COORDINATOR (‘RMC’) at our Thorndale, Ontario facility plays an extremely important role in achieving and driving the quality and production of ADS products. The RMC is responsible for the combined raw materials and blending operations of the Thorndale (North & South) facilities. The Raw Materials Coordinator is responsible for receipt, sampling, inventory and tracking management of all raw materials. The RMC will also support raw material processing for production. The RMC has an active role in the receipt, storage and inventorying of all in-bound and out-bound loads of raw material. This position requires the flexibility to work 40+ hours per week and weekends as required. The RMC work closely with the Quality Team and reports directly to the Plant Manager.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure a Safe Work environment for all team members and maintain a safe working record, while following all safety protocols
  • Understand and practice ADS CORE VALUES
  • Count and record all Raw Materials on site daily
  • Post adjustments to Raw Material discrepancies on regular basis
  • Investigate and report any discrepancies and problem solve the issues in regard to materials
  • Create blend assignments in blend optimizer
  • Greet, verify and support unloading of bulk tankers
  • Regularly audit blenders and blends to ensure accuracy and compliance for facility
  • Accurately order Raw Materials, ensuring sufficient inventory on hand to meet production goals
  • Communicate and post blend assignments within facility
  • Maintain housekeeping; specifically resin spills, loose boxes and pallets
  • Monitor equipment control panels to ensure processes are safe, stable and efficient
  • Set up blenders for upcoming production runs per required specifications
  • Assist with physical management of raw materials on site, including unloading trucks, moving materials, etc

Job Skills: This position should possess the following skills / knowledge:

  • Base understanding of local safety rules, regulations, and protocols and ability to support team members to build a safety and culture
  • Leadership skills and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability and focus to drive a culture of Quality and process adherence
  • Mechanical aptitude and solid troubleshooting techniques
  • Understanding of inventory practices and procedures
  • Detailed and process oriented
  • Ability to communicate at different levels within the organization
  • Analytical thinking with a problem-solving approach to resolving issues
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Intermediate computer skills (Office 365, with focus on Excel)
  • Forklift certification

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work and engage in production areas of operation
  • Requires full range of body motion on regular basis, including bending and reaching, and ability to operate industrial equipment and vehicles
  • Role maybe required to lift and move objects up to approx. 22kgs
  • Ability to stand and be mobile for up to 8 continuous hours
  • Ability to wear all required PPE (bump cap, hearing protection, eye protection, boots)
  • Maybe required to work outdoors throughout various times during the year

Education

Secondary School Diploma

Experience Required

Preferred Experience or Skills:

  • 2+ years of Manufacturing experience
  • Plastic or Extrusion knowledge
  • Inventory management
  • ERP System
