Job Description

Summary of Roles & Responsibilities:
• Working with adults with developmental disabilities in an assisted-living environment providing 24/7 support
• Support person-centred programming by ensuring that the individual needs of people are met on a daily basis (medical, personal, physical, financial, hygienic, social, recreational, emotional, developmental), and provide the best quality of life while in compliance with legislated requirements and company policies and procedures
• Facilitate and support community engagement and recreational endeavours
• Communicate appropriately and effectively with non-verbal participants and ensure their needs and desires are being addressed
• Work successfully with diverse groups and demonstrate commitment to principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice

Experience Required

Qualifications:
• Completion of or enrollment in post-secondary education in Community, and/or Social Services (e.g., DSW, SSW)
• Minimum six (6) months of related experience
• Reliable with a demonstrated commitment to being a dependable member of a team
• Understanding of support requirements specific to the roles and responsibilities of the job
• Proficiency in both verbal and written communication
• Strong mentorship, advocacy, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills, in addition to attention to detail
• Ability to work collaboratively with the team, and independently as necessary
• Capacity to establish, implement, and maintain professional, and personal boundaries
• Multilingualism is considered an asset
 

Requirements:
• Valid Class G (full) Driver’s License with a 3-year Uncertified Driver Record
• Satisfactory current Police Vulnerable Sector Check
• Physical Health assessment: verification of up-to-date immunizations, negative TB Skin test (within the last 6 months), COVID vaccination status (2 doses), and ability to meet the physical and psychological requirements of the position
• Current Standard First Aid & CPR, Level C with AED training preferred
