Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Maintenance Supervisor ensures seamless facility operations by developing and managing a preventative maintenance program to minimize downtime and ensure efficient production. This role oversees the installation, repair, and maintenance of all equipment, including grading machines, mechanical systems, and building structures.
Due to the nature of the business, the Maintenance Supervisor may need to respond to urgent issues outside of regular working hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Maintain and manage all documentation, including CMMS and work orders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Oversee and coordinate equipment installations, modifications, and repairs, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work, while managing preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Manage inventory control, ensuring a sufficient supply of spare parts.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and prioritize machinery repairs, addressing malfunctions efficiently.
- Liaise with various departments to address priority issues, support continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure compliance with company policies while promptly addressing employee concerns.
- Supervise, train, and motivate maintenance staff, conducting performance reviews and fostering a positive team environment.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, biosecurity, and safety procedures, contributing to a strong food safety culture.
- Generate and manage the maintenance staffing schedule, ensuring adequate coverage.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Education
Experience Required
SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Grade 12 education with strong English and math skills, plus additional relevant certifications (e.g., trade certificate, electronics, welding, equipment operation).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Industrial Electrician, Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright. With experience in a food manufacturing environment being an asset.
- Proven experience in developing and managing preventative maintenance programs, including training and CMMS systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to work independently and quickly resolve issues.
- Leadership and communication abilities, capable of motivating teams and providing clear instructions.
- Extensive experience in maintenance, particularly within processing and packaging environments, with a strong safety record
