Job Description

Reports To: Operations Manager

We are currently seeking a Greenhouse Supervisor to join our team.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

  • Communicate, motivate and guide a team of labour workers to achieve planning rates and quality production goals
  • Track workflow based on established company methods and practices, ensuring Team Leads understand their duties or tasks
  • Monitor productivity, efficiency, and performance of Team Leads by providing constructive feedback and support
  • Enforce health & safety, quality control, and bio-security procedures to promote a positive work environment
  • Operate machines and track workflow based on established company methods and practices, and ensure that labour workers understand their duties or tasks. 
  • Make minor machine adjustments and troubleshooting
  • Maintain control over documentation related to the task under his/her responsibility (shipping, time trackers, etc.)
  • Lead teamwork and motivate Team Leads through ongoing communication of mutual expectations and recognize outstanding performance
  • Assign and coordinate work activities with Supervisors, Team Leads, teams and other departments
  • Participate and support quality, morale, and productivity improvement initiatives
  • Supervise and assist with growing and other crop related activities
  • Supervise and assist with maintenance of facilities, farm infrastructure, equipment, and supplies
  • Develop and assist with work schedules, establish procedures, and coordinate transportation
  • Plan for manpower and equipment needs
  • Assist with greenhouse staff training
  • Perform general farm duties and other tasks as may be assigned

Physical Location/Working Conditions:

  • Greenhouse environment in rural area, own transportation required;
  • Repetitive tasks, combination of standing, bending, walking, crouching
  • 35 – 55 hours per week, shifts may vary between day and evening
  • Able to work long hours including Saturdays, Sunday, and holidays when required

Education RequirementSecondary School Diploma Experience Requirement

Minimum Requirements:

  • High-school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent Spanish an asset
  • Ability to operate various types of equipment
  • One-year work experience as a Team Lead or Supervisor
  • First aid certification is considered an asset
  • Good communication, relationship building, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting maintaining endurance over extended periods
  • Must have reliable transportation
